Congress, the EPA and SWPPP

The Clean Water Act (CWA)

In 1972, Congress passed the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (FWPCA), also known as the Clean Water Act (CWA), to restore and maintain the quality of the nation’s waterways. The ultimate goal was to make sure that the rivers and streams were fishable, swimmable, and drinkable.

The Water Quality Act (WQA)

In 1987, the Water Quality Act (WQA) added provisions to the CWA that allowed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to govern stormwater discharges from construction sites. In 1998, the EPA published the final notice for General Permits for stormwater discharges from construction activities disturbing 1 acre or greater.

The General Permit (SWPPP)

The general permit includes provisions for development of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) to maximize the potential benefits of pollution prevention with erosion and sediment control measures at construction sites.

This is where EPS comes in

Relentlessly Protecting our Waterways

They will enforce the rules

As you may have heard, with the renewal of the General Permit, covering Stormwater Discharge, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) is drastically increasing enforcement of SWPPP regulations. City inspectors are also seen enforcing SWPPP again as well. Stormwater protection is not just an environmentally friendly gesture, it’s a serious requirement enforced by law. We take it very seriously.

We will ensure your protection

We provide all the services necessary to develop, implement, and maintain the Best Management Practices (BMPs) necessary to reduce soil erosion, sediment and pollutants in Stormwater discharge. Certified Compliance Inspectors of Stormwater (CCIS), as well as Qualified SWPPP Practitioners (QSP), and Qualified SWPPP Developers (QSD), are on staff to develop plans and perform inspections as needed.

Zero liability Guarantee

We are so confident in our work, we will cover any fines incurred as a result of our service. Each site is posted with a sign informing everyone of the protection we have provided while directing any service inquiries or liability issues toward us.
